To Linda, on a sign
Linda, sorry I missed you. I waited at Starbucks to see your face.
You never showed up, so I cruised over to our special place
and bought myself a beer to muse in a comfy peaceful space.
I got kicked out of that dirty old hostel I'll never miss
so I'm hitching south where it's warm and I can reminisce.
I wanted to tell you goodbye and get one last friendly kiss.
Since we didn't connect, I painted your name on a sign.
I hope you see it before I leave. But if not, I'll remind
myself every now and then your friendship was mine.
So Linda, I hope you have a wonderful life before you.
If you remember, I hope you'll still be fond of me too.
And if you forget, I hope you'll find somebody new.
